Fury in Flex and the City

Jamie "Fury" Kovac is featured in Sex and the City promo video Flex and the City. It's reasonably humorous stuff - very "meta".

Epic Fail: Episode Two of American Gladiators

I don't normally comment on the men's part of the competition, because shyeah, whatevs, but those two guys last night were the worst ever. I don't think there's been a single female competitor in season one or two who completed the Eliminator course slower than these two. I have no idea what the casting criteria has been for "American Gladiators", but athleticism seems to take a distant second in a lot of cases.

If NBC wants the show to stay interesting, "American Gladiators" needs to look more like "Ninja Warrior" and less like "American Idol".

Also, Skytrack is stupid.

American Gladiators on Facebook

This may have worked better on MySpace, but "American Gladiators" has a Facebook "social gaming application" for people to compete against their friends and potentially win prizes from the show:

"This innovative game offers viewers the chance to enhance their gladiator experience by indulging in a full-spectrum fantasy competition that will challenge their minds but fortunately, leave them relatively unbruised," NBC chief John Miller said in a statement.

"We see this as a tremendous opportunity to engage fans of our shows in the environments where they are spending time, while also raising the profile of the series even further by tapping into the viral nature of social networks," he added.

Of course, Miller never actually said any of that, but the fiction of the press release must not be questioned. Click to read more about it on BuddyTV.

Jennifer Widerstrom Interview

Jennifer WiderstromJennifer WiderstromCrave Online has an interview with the gorgeous Jennifer Widerstrom, aka "Phoenix":

Crave Online: How did you come up with this look?
Phoenix: We went for a really big look. I've got bright pink hair, the bubblegum lips to match it and the pink rouge. I think it's kind of taking the responsibility of bringing a little extra sex appeal to the show as you will see in my uniform. It's pretty functional and it keeps all the good parts in, but it shows enough. So I have a feminine look, but I'm definitely very strong. I don't know if that's the description you want. I'm wearing silver spandex just like the rest of the girls are.

Well, that explains the pink hair.
