American Gladiators Valentines

All I can say is, thank Christ the writers strike is over. Because whoever put Tanji Johnson's face on an ecard with the caption I'm a Stealth bomber for your love should be strapped to the Joust platform and beaten like a rug.

Some of these Valentines Day e-cards aren't so bad. I've got a Crush on you is sweet and Hellga's is funny.

Check 'em all out.

Gina Carano Interview

Showtime's EliteXC interviewer asks, "What's a girl with a face like that doing in the ring?" Gina Carano smiles and gives a demure and humble response. My answer would be "Scaring me. A little bit."

Carano is undeniably a star: she's got looks, charisma, remarkable athletic ability, fighting skill and stage presence. And yet there is something absolutely terrifying about seeing such a beautiful woman sport an irrepressible smile as she pounds the snot out of somebody with a giant Q-Tip.

It wasn't a kick. It was a step.

Here's an illustration of our earlier post - Gina Carano will mess you up. Crush's now infamous "step" on the head of Jennifer Blum is presented on YouTube in all its amusing-yet-somewhat-scary splendor.

A longer, more complete version of the Crush/Blum match is here.

Crush Crush Crush

Here's a fan video dedicated to Gina Carano - aka Crush - on "American Gladiators". The merged footage (and music!) is from Paramore's video for its song, CrushCrushCrush. It's very cool.

Gina Carano will mess you up

There were two great bits from last night's "American Gladiators":

  1. Gina "Crush" Carano using her foot to push Jennifer Blum off the platform in "Earthquake".
  2. Valerie "Siren" Waugaman going airborne after her target was hit by Jennifer Blum.

Blum's loss in Earthquake was subsequently overturned, because of illegal foot use by Crush. Blum claimed that Crush had "kicked" her, while Crush claimed the move was actually a mere "step". Either way, Blum is lucky that Crush used her foot to push Blum's head down, instead of using it to "crush" the fingers Blum was using to cling to the platform. After Crush dislodged Blum, she walked around the platform giggling like a schoolgirl - so Blum was probably lucky to get out of there alive.

Siren's flight into the pool during "Assault" was very cool. Blum managed to tag the target using the cannon, and Siren went sky-high. During Blum's interview, Hulk Hogan observed that Siren "needed to take a shower anyway," which doesn't seem like a very nice thing to say.
