American Gladiators Taping Starts Today
Well, today is the day. With luck, this evening or tomorrow morning we'll know the names of most of the female gladiators, including who's returning from last season.
Based entirely on rumor and innuendo, it seems very likely that Valerie Waugaman, Gina Carano and Robin Coleman are returning and that Erin Toughill will be a new gladiator. It's also pretty likely, in my estimation, that Monica Carlson will have a gladiator or gladiator-like role.
As both Tanji Johnson and Jamie Kovac were injured last season, the return of either of them for season two seems very unlikely.
That leaves Beth Horn, who never really found her niche as a gladiator. My guess is that she won't be back.

"who never really found her niche as a gladiator"
What do you mean by that? Venom was one of the most popular, durable and successful Gladiators in season one .... she was regularly kicking contender butt in the second half while many were injured. Just curious, what are the reasons behind your statement?
Frank Lofton:
Gina Carano excelled in Joust. Robin Coleman was very popular and effective in Assault and in Gauntlet. Jamie Kovac was very effective in Pyramid. Like Horn, Valerie Waugaman struggled for awhile before finally finding her niche in Hang Tough.
Horn never made any of the events her own. She was a good "utility" gladiator, but the show doesn't need utility players.

Was I watching a different show than the previous commentors?
VW was outstanding in several events - for example she absolutely dominated in powerball.
Beth Horn appeared lost in most events. I would not trust her to pick up my kids from a soccer game.
Frank Lofton:
We barely saw Waugaman before episode 3 or 4. She appeared in the group events but not really in the individual events until the second half of the season.
She turned out to be really good at Hang Tough, as I said.
Tony:
Although she was overall not incredibly effective in the highly physical events, Beth was good in the speed related one. I thought she was very effective on the Wall. With her perfectly done blond hair and revealing costume, it seems to me she was brought in to be the "hot babe" gladiator, as she was also featured prominently in the ads and in early episodes.
Obviously the new commercials feature her again, so she is clearly in season two.
Brian:
I am still a fan of the old American Gladiator episodes... you can't be the outdated hair-dos!!haha
